How many of you have a mattress protector between your sheets and your mattress? And how often do you clean it?
We often disregard the importance of a mattress protector and what it does for the hygiene and the longevity of the mattress. This is why most, if not all mattress manufacturers require a protector to keep the mattress warranty valid.
On average an adult will perspire 1 cup of fluid per night, so over a 10 year period (average lifespan of mattress) that's around 3000 cups. It's the job of the mattress protector to absorb this fluid and keep it away from your mattress. This stops our acidic sweat from degrading the foams at an accelerated pace.
It is recommended that you also clean your mattress protector every 4-6 weeks, and have a second one handy as you clean the other. When your mattress protector starts to thin it's advisable to replace it with a new one, as it's absorbing qualities would have degraded.
